THE FINALE

Professor Wesley is a tough, but reasonable teacher. When I first walked into class I didn't know what to expect. I'm not used to having a black teacher in the classroom. In my school black teachers are a rare thing to see. So I was happy in the inside to see her somewhat. Professor Wesley seemed cool at first, until she starting dishing out work. I thought I couldn't keep up with all the work she would assigned including papers, blogs, and the other weird websites she had us going to. The websites Professor Wesley had us going to was so freaking odd and childish a bit. Professor is a very blunt person, and takes no excuses. If you're on top of your work she assigns you will pass. Professor Wesley has a evil stare that makes you not want to ask any questions about anything. I really enjoyed the discussions she would bring up class, because it  killed time, and they got real at times. When Professor Wesley started giving Sula quizzes I really started to dislike her. In the end I found out Professor Wesley is a stern professor to get us equipped for the college experience. I'm glad I got into her class, and ready for what the fall will bring.

The Library

The library experience was very difficult. I haven't been in a library since I was younger, so I was very lost today. I was so confused on where to find any books on my topic. It probably took about a whole hour to find some books. The library code system is a difficult one to understand, especially if it's your first time using it. Eventually I found two books on my topic. The two books I chose can really help me a lot with writing this eight page paper. I've never written a eight page paper before in my life. I might have a difficult time with the length, but not with the argumentative part. I wish we had a little bit more time to complete the paper. My topic on my paper is about racism. I'm going to explain why I think white people are evil, and how I came up with this statement. In my heart I really think white people are evil. I might be a little prejudice, but I don't disrespect most white people. I can thousands of reasons why white people are evil in my eyes, and I'm white have reasons why black people are evil.

Argumentative Essays

In in argumentative essay you can choose from four different sources of arguable claims. You can choose from issues of definition, which is argument that hinges on how to define a object, event or person. You can choose from issues of causation, which is arguing about an effect due to a cause. Another chose is issues of evaluation, which is arguing something good, bad, right or wrong, better or worse. The last chose you can pick from is issues of recommendation, which making making
recommendations about the best course of action to follow or should. We learned about different types of evidence to support your argument. You can use reason, which is common sense or beliefs. You can choose authority, which is personal beliefs on a argument. Emotion can also be chosen which is another type of evidence. Emotions persuade readers with feelings. The Latin terms for the reasons, authorities, and emotion are Logos, Ethos, and Pathos. Also you have to avoid logical fallacies, which could be false or weak premises, irrelevance, and ambiguity.

Argumentative Essays

I've never written a argumentative essay before. I think my argumentative essay will turn out pretty good, because I like to argue to get my point across. From my understanding in a argumentative essay your suppose to state claim, and answer any question your audience might have in their minds. Argumentative essays seem really easy to write if you know a lot about your topic. I think in a argumentative essay you have to make extremely valid points. A lot of arguments are based on opinions, but have facts to back the opinion up. In the area I'm from all we do is  argue about things that we have strong opinions about. Our favorite topics are basketball, football, music, basketball players, football players, hip hop artists, and personal affairs. The arguments we partake in get really epic.We take topics to the extreme. We argue to the point where a fight might even break out between us. If your not a great debater you probably couldn't hang around me. That's why this argumentative might come easier to me.

Teenagers & Video Games

Video games don't effect teenagers unless the teenager is crazy in the head. If violent video games effect a teenager's mind then other games will also. I know personally when I play video games I do not incorporate in any real life situations. My little plays violent video games, and he has never had any problems in real life. I think most teenagers know the difference between fantasy and reality. Playing violent video games are cool, because all the things you can't do in real life you can do in a game without any repercussions. I don't think I've ever heard of any case where a teen reenacts  a violent video game, and causes harm to others. The only minds violent video games effect are the minds of children. Usually parents play big roles in children lives, so they know the difference between right and wrong. If the violent video games corrupt teens minds; I'm pretty sure there would be some type of protest to stop the creation of games. As teen knows reality form fantasy play violent video games would not effect them at all, but may cause an addiction.

1965-The Finale

1965 was the final chapter in the book. Our reading group was assembled pretty late yesterday, but we got the job the done. I was very excited to read the final chapter to see what it was going to be about. Nel was brought back into play like I thought she was going to be. The way the book ended was not good at all to me. I think Tony Morrison should of created a better ending for the book. It ended so plain, and dull to me compared to the other parts of the book. Overall I'm glad I read the book. The book was really interesting. Compared to other books I've read in my lifetime Sula is high on my very short list. The book contained a great amount of drama, action and suspense, which made for a great piece of literature to read. I'm glad I joined that reading group after all; It really paid off in the long run with my grades. I haven't failed a Sula quiz since the first the three I took, and my last two grades on the quizzes were A's. Since we finished the book Sula, I wonder if this is going to be our last blog post for the summer.

1941-Read

1941 was a another good chapter in the book. I think the people of the bottom rioted for no reason at all. Sula presence was actually a good thing rather the a bad thing after all. Sula's presence made people care for the their lovers more, and mothers take care of their elders. Without Sula the people of the bottom went into turmoil. I think Shadrack set the people up for death. I believe he knew what the people were feeling like, so he picked the right time to do his little National Suicide Day announcement. I'm surprised that Sula didn't sleep with Shadrack before he died. Everyone has their own definition of Sula's birthmark, so I wonder what her birthmark really looks like. In the chapter it doesn't mention anything about Nel, so I wonder if she is still alive in the town. In the next chapter I hope to find out what happened to Nel. The ice storm in the book sounded extremely harsh, and almost unbearable to deal with. I didn't know one storm could last for three months straight. I would have to tried to move somewhere else.

1941-Will be read...

1941 is a chapter I did not read, I'm going to tonight. I thought we didn't have to read it because we weren't going to be quizzed on it today. Our reading group wasn't assembled last night either so I know others did not read it as well. I was still prepared for my quiz today. I'm sure I passed it. Since joining the reading group I haven't failed a Sula quiz since the first three we took. I'm proud of myself for that personal accomplishment. I wonder what this chapter will contain. I really enjoy reading Sula with the reading group. Canisha makes the book more interesting to read. She incorporates her different southern style accents to suit each character. This creates a vivid image in my head of what the characters look and sound like. I think at the end of the program Canisha should receive an award for being the best mentor in the program. She is the most helpful down to earth mentor, and really makes strides to help students succeed in this program. I see her as a big sister figure in this program rather than mentor.

1940-R.I.P Sula

1940-I want to start by giving Sula a moment of silence. This chapter was very shocking because I didn't know Sula was sick. I wish they told us what illness Sula had. I bet it was AIDS/HIV. If she had that she definitely deserved from all her wrong doings. At the end it was kind of sad how Sula died. I think Nel is a great friend to Sula. After what Sula did to her she still came back, and tried to help her out. I think Nel had the right to question Sula about Jude after 3 years. I thought Nel really loved Jude, but she said he only filled a space in her head. My personal opinion about that situation is Nel was just bluffing. I think she had grown to love him because they were together for 10 years. When Sula's brain said she can't wait to tell Nel death didn't hurt showed Sula actually still cared about her friend. Sula's death confirmed my prediction of the next chapters in the book. I knew something bad was going to happen to Sula, but I just didn't know when. I wonder what's going to happen in the next chapter since the main character has died already.

Sula Glogg

1939-The Real Sula

1939 was good chapter in my opinion. It contained a lot of graphic description about the sex Sula had with Ajax. Ajax is a smooth criminal with the ladies. If Ajax was in my town he probably be praised by all the guys. Ajax would be a role model to most teenage boys. Every teenage boy would want to have all the girls, and girls to be fighting over them. I know I would want to be just like Ajax if he was a real person in my neighborhood. I know right now in my teenage years I want to be like Ajax, but don't catch any diseases. I don't want to get a girl pregnant either. I would have never thought that Ajax real name would be Albert Jax. I wonder what did Ajax mother really teach him. The book said he was brought up right, but as you read he is a player from the Himalayas. I'm thinking what his mother taught him went in one ear, and out the other. I applaud him for what he did to Sula. What Ajax did to Sula was exactly what Sula's evil ass needed. Sula deserved some bad luck on her.

1937-The Return

1937 is a long but good chapter in the book. Sula returns as a evil diva with her rose birthmark fully developed. Sula is a truly evil person. The way she snapped at her grandmother, and threaten to kill her was very insane. Sula in my opinion did her grandmother a favor. Sula could of just went ahead and kilt her grandmother. I knew something was going to happen to Nel's marriage with Jude. It turned out something really scandalous did occur, and Sula was the cause of it all. Sula is a horrible, manipulative, evil friend. Nel should of at least hopped on Sula's ass, or screamed to the top of her lungs. If I was in that situation I don't know what I would do. I know one thing for sure is I wouldn't marry anyone that wasn't truly in love with me. I hope something tragic happens to Sula later on in the book. Sula and Jude had to be messing around previously because they wouldn't stop when Nel walked in. This chapter is was pretty scandalous, which makes me kind of interested to read the next chapter.

1927-Marriage

1927 was a very interesting chapter. It was also a very short chapter, so it didn't take my reading group very long to finish. I think later on in the book Sula will do something drastic to alter Jude and Nel's marriage. I feel marriage back then was stupid. I believe you should be completely be in love with a person before you marry them. Personally I could not marry anyone that's very submissive. I want a compromising woman not a give in and give up type of woman. I wonder is the story going to tell how Sula is fairing off in college. The way the story is going Sula might kill someone in college.  Sula and Nel's relationship might be very different when they finally meet each other again. They may not like each other because of different beliefs, or they could be the same good friends they once were. I wonder will Nel's marriage with Jude will last ten years. Honestly I believe they are going to get a divorce, and something tragic is going to happen. I'm really looking forward to reading the next chapter.

1923-The First Chapter I Read!

1923 was the first chapter I read in the book.I am extremely proud of myself. The book is actually good. The chapter I read was filled with intense imagery, suspense, and chaos. Today I was to prepared to take this quiz. I think I was the first one finished, but I forgot to write a question. The part at the end of the chapter when Eva knew deep down that Sula watched her mother getting burned interested her, flipped my mind. In class we discussed if we would we want Sula as a friend in our lives, or do we have friends similar to her. Personally I don't have any friends that are like Sula at all. If I had friends that acted like her they wouldn't be my friends in the first place. My friends would not watch me burn up, or watch there mothers burn up. All my friends respect their mothers, and would do anything for them even die for them. Sula may be thirteen, but she still could of helped out her mother in any way she possibly could. I think Sula's mind is corrupt with evil thoughts. I also think later on in the book she will kill someone purposely to bring her sick little mind some joy.

1922-Another failed attempt to read

1922 is another failed mission in my reading. Today I'm going to join a reading group, and catch myself up on this book. I'm really slipping in this class, and it's time to pick my work ethic up. Seeing these zeros really are crushing my spirit. I didn't read last night, because I typed up my entire rough draft. I was up until three in the morning typing this paper. I didn't bring my laptop from home so I had to wait at least three hours to use an available one when I got back in the dorms. In the discussion we talked about in class today we brought up how some old man looked at girls, and said "pig meat" to Sula and Nel. I think the old man and his friends are true perverts hanging out where little kids meet up. If I was in that situation I would get a older person I know to come approach the men about the situation. What really got me is when one of my classmates said the girls like the attention they were getting from the men. To me it sounds to me like Nel is following in her grandmothers foot step in becoming a whore.

1921-Another Chapter I didn't read

1921 is another chapter I did not read in the book. I thought I was going to be able to read but I just couldn't. Reading is still a very boring process to me. I know I'm going to have the next chapter possibly the whole book. I really need to get back track with this book. Not reading this book is bringing my grade down, and I'm trying to pass this class. I haven't received a zero in a very long time. I pretty sure I received another zero on that last pop quiz. I pray I'm not failing this class the class.  I think the time I spend socializing in the lobby I need to be reading. Sula sounds like a interesting book to read. I think they need to  make movie for Sula then I'll then I would be the first in line to watch it. Reading is like swallowing a pill with no water it's a very hard task for me. I think we need to read Sula together as a class or review the chapter before taking a pop quizzes. Some students in the class read the book, and will not retain the what they read. Since I learned today you still can learn while you're sleep. They need to make Sula listening app, so I can download it listen to it will I'm sleep at night.

1920-Did not read

1920 and so far on I did not read at all. I did catch the end of the chapter with a with reading group in the library during study hall. Discussions in class are pretty epic until certain people over state their opinions which is extremely aggravating. Some people voices just irritate me to the maximum, but I'm cool about the situation. I wish discussion lasted at least two hours out of the class period. I read a tiny bit of it when it said something about peeing out yonder or something. I found that part very funny to me. As a male I will or can possibly urinate anywhere, and it will not be a big deal to me. Females on the other hand should not do it any and everywhere. Females should only pee outside in case of extreme emergency nothing less. Popping a squat anywhere is not really cool with me or to any male. From the things I'm hearing about this chapter through discussions the book took a big turn. I will soon get on track with this book because failing is not option right now. Blogging is a lot easier than I thought, and a pretty cool thing to do. I like it somewhat because it's my thoughts and opinions.

1919 Shadrack

1919 is the only chapter in the book that I honestly read. I'm not good with taking a book home, and just reading it on my own. Reading and writing are extremely boring to me no matter the book or topic. I rather watch a movie on a book then read it anyways. The big discussion in class about whether or not Shadrack had hands really was interesting. In my mind by reading the only chapter I've read in the book I think he does have hands through context clues. The nurse told him to pick up the spoon, and I was thinking why would she ask a man with no hands to do that. Shadrack was in shell shock due to the war he was in previously. If we had took a pop quiz on this chapter I would've passed it instead of failing it with a zero. I need to join a reading a group during study hall time. If I don't join I will honestly continue to fail the quizzes, and may potentially fail the class. I wish I had to motivation to read a like other people, but its just not in me. Hopefully after this class I will develop the passion for reading.
